This summary outlines options for implementing into hospitals, with the following assumptions:
- Average hospital has one main entrance, one A&E entrance, 4 reception points, 10 fire exits, 2 socialising/meeting places, one sanctuary space and one dining area
- Main entrance has a weatherproof canopy over the approaching footpath
- Friends and relatives will be encouraged to visit in order to improve overall patient wellbeing
- Individual requirements can be defined following site survey
Level of Intervention
Option 1 – basic safety
General entry – scan at main entry/exit point, enabling high temperature to be detected while ensuring mask usage, maintaining social distancing and tracking building occupancy level, with facial recognition
Option 2 – Patient privacy
As per basic safety, plus triage station linked to reception points, enabling patients presenting for assessment to have an initial contactless interview, with temperature showing on screen, demonstrating preserving patient confidentiality while maintaining social distancing, and enabling more refined initial assessment of any high temperature
Option 3 – Safety monitoring
As per patient privacy, plus temperature, mask, distancing and room occupancy internally
Option 4 – Fire evacuation monitoring
As per safety monitoring, plus tracking through A&E entrance and fire exits with alerting for anyone not registered as having left the building
